Commiphora mukul (Guggul):

  • Guggulsterone are the active elements present in Guggul.
  • Guggulsterone acts as an antagonist of the bile acid receptor (FXR) so increases transcription of cholesterol in to bile acids & shows hypolipidaemic activity.
  • Guggulsterone also binds with bile acids released in to intestine and inhibits its absorption.
  • Guggul stimulates thyroid function and helps in metabolism of triglycerides.
  • So, it reduces not only cholesterol but also triglyceride level.

Allium sativum (Garlic):

  • Garlic contains allin and allicin as an active element.

  • Garlic decrease the activities of various lipogenic enzymes such as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and malic dehydrogenase and cholestrogenic enzyme,3- hydroxy 3-methyl glutaryl co-enzyme reductase.

Trogonela foenum graecum (Fenugreek)

  • Fenugreek contains PUFA (Polu Unsaturated Fatty Acids) such as linoleic and linolenic acids that inhibit lipid peroxidation.
  • It is also having anti diabetic and anti obesity activity.
